Australian Christian praise band Hillsong Worship (formerly Hillsong Live) was formed in 1983, out of Hillsong Church founder Brian Houston’s desire for musical outreach.
∙ With such praise standards as “This I Believe (The Creed)” and “Cornerstone,” Hillsong Worship’s catalog is sung by an estimated 50 million churchgoers worldwide each week. ∙ The collective has launched several members into successful solo careers, including Brooke Fraser, Darlene Zschech, and Joel Houston. ∙ In 2017, the band won a Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song Grammy Award for “What a Beautiful Name.” ∙ They headlined the 2018 Hillsong Conference, the largest convention in Australia, with attendees from around the globe. ∙ The 2019 album Awake peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart, becoming their seventh release to do so.
